Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress was a model in the past. She's best known for her role in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as singing lead in Apollonia 6, a girl group. Apollonia was a performer/singer christened by Prince in 1984, became one of the many female singers of the 1980s that benefited from Prince. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model and actress in the late '70s with a role on the television show CHiPS. Kotero was the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at the time he changed the name of her). In the same year, she took over Vanity in the form of the group Vanity 6 and performed with them under the name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was a minor success for the trio, but she had a bigger effect as the duet partner of Prince with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince when they fell out over the future of Apollonia 6. The singer then appeared in couple of films that were minor in the late 1980s (reportedly declining an opportunity to play in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon), before settling on a night-time role in the dramatic Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. However, the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by the public who purchased music. They soon ceased to exist. In the years that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films and small TV shows. Apollonia produced a Spanish/English bilingual album titled Stay With Me. She later returned to school to study filmmaking, and formed her own production company, often working on the field of children's TV. Apollonia is a multi-talented lady.
